Jonathan Arthur “Jon” Vernon (born 23 May 1969) is the husband of Megan Kenzie. He is a big fan of board games and gardening projects.

Early Life

Jon was born in Kingston, Ontario to Robert Vernon and Norma Vernon (nee Deakin). They had recently moved to Canada. Norma's family was in Liverpool and Robert's was in Gloucester. The move to Canada was prompted by Robert getting a job as a chemist working for Dupont in their explosives division.

  • Jon has one sibling, Lisa Stephan (nee Vernon), born 4 May 1968.

Very quickly after being born Jon with his family to North Bay, because Robert was transferred there to witness the explosions due to all the mining activity there. Later, in 1974, the family moved to Montreal.

In 1993-1994, Jon and his sister Lisa did a world tour. They were on a bus in Turkey, and they had picked up a book, paperback, in one of the hostels, and both reading the same book and this American in the seat behind us: "I feel so decadent, I have my own book."

Jon went back home, but Lisa chose to remain in Canberra, Australia, permanently living there from 1995 when she met a man named Jens Stephan, of German descent who moved to Australia when he was young. In 1999, Lisa and Jens married. They have two children:

Marriage

Jon asked Jim Kenzie for Megan's hand in marriage in 2000.

Interests

His favourite board games is Dominion, as of 2025. Also Pandemic, He also enjoys Carcassonne.

Jon's favourite book is the Path of the Paddle, or "Under Heaven" by Guy Gavriel Kay. [1]
