Elfrieda Putter
Elfrieda Putter (1924 - 15 April 2004) was a kindly lady who lived close to Pine Street School and also worked there as a custodian from 1974 or 1975 to 1988. According to her obituary, "her love in life was the children she knew there, keeping in touch with many of them for many years after her retirement." To the students of Pine Street, she was known as Mrs. Putter.
Early life
Elfrieda was born in Lienz, Austria in 1924 to a woman called Louise (? - sometime before 2004). She grew up there.

She was married to Valentin Putter (1927 - 2016) [1] in September 1951. They had one child:

Mrs. Elfrieda Putter age 80 years of Pine Street, passed away peacefully , after a long battle with cancer on, Thursday April 15, 2004 in St. Joseph's Hospice.Born in Lienz, Austria in 1924, Frieda grew up there. She married Valentin Putter in September of 1951 here in Port Arthur and five years later they had their daughter Monika. Frieda had worked at various jobs before taking a custodial position at Pine Street Public School where she worked for 13 years, retiring in 1988. Her love in life was the children she knew there, keeping in touch with many of them for many years after her retirement. The children in her neighbourhood were her greatest joy, especially Allison, Jeffrey [Jeffrey Ryan Mackenzie Turner (1989 - 2009), who sadly died in a snowmobiling accident [2]], James and Katie. She also enjoyed gardening and most of all taking care of her family.Frieda will be sadly missed by her loving family; Valentin, her husband of 53 years, and her daughter Monika. She will also be lovingly remembered by all of the children whose hearts she touched over the years. Numerous other relatives also survive. She was predeceased by her mother Louise in Austria.According to Frieda's wishes cremation has taken place and no service will be held. An interment of the ashes will take place at a later date. If friends so desire donations may be made in Frieda's memory to the charity of their choice. Harbourview Funeral Centre in care of arrangements."
