Beth Lounds (born 16 February 1981) is an Vancouver Island-based entomologist, whose uncle is Jim Kenzie.

Early life

Beth Lounds was born to Margaret Lounds (nee Kenzie) and Bruce Lounds. She grew up in Calgary, Alberta.

She attended the University of Lethbridge where she discovered her love of insects, in particular leaf-resembling insects. (NOT leaf-cutter insects.)

She educates visitors at Victoria Butterfly Gardens.

Children

Beth's children are Alexander Lounds and Marion Lounds; they live north of Victoria in Brentwood Bay on Vancouver Island. They also have had dog called Oliver "Ollie", a mini Burnadoodle, born 2024.

Alexander "Alex" enjoys lawn bowling and plotting strategies to improve the world's governance.

Marion is in Grade 7, going into Grade 8 in September 2025, enjoys playing with Ollie, and training Ollie.
