George Manton Carrick
George Manton Carrick (born 24 September 1940 - 12 January 2023) was a Canadian-American finance and consulting professional, born into a wealthy family, and the last living grandson of J.J. Carrick until his passing in 2023.
He was born in Toronto to Don Carrick (1906 - 1997) and Elizabeth Bunker Carrick; he had one sibling, Ellen Green.
In about 1969 he married Donna Carmichael. They had two sons:
- James Bradley "Brad" Carrick, of San Francisco as of 2023
- Robert Scott "Scott" Carrick, of Arroyo Grande as of 2023
He was living in Hawaii at the time of his aunt's death in 2003.
He died (likely of Leukemia and Lymphoma given the request to donate to that charity in his obituary) in Arroyo Grande, California, on 12 January 2023.

George Manton Carrick passed away on January 12th peacefully at home in Arroyo Grande, California. He was surrounded with love, music and a view of the setting sun.
Born in 1940 in Toronto, Canada, George was the son of Elizabeth Bunker Carrick and Donald Day Carrick. He had a younger sister, Ellen, who says that George liked to play tricks on her.
He went to John Ross Robertson public school, attended the University of Toronto Schools (UTS), and graduated from Victoria College, University of Toronto.
After working at Wood Gundy in Toronto and Winnipeg, George moved to California and got his MBA at the University of Southern California in 1969.
He met and married his wife, Donna in Toronto. They had 54 fabulous years and two sons, Brad and Scott. They lived in California, a year in Europe, Toronto, California (again), and Kauai, Hawaii.
George had a career in finance and consulting. He immersed himself into a wide range of industries, from mergers and acquisitions to publishing. A highlight was his management position with Sullivan Bluth, an entertainment company making animated movies and interactive video. He really enjoyed the movie business.
George was an avid golfer, mountain biker and hiker. He had a lifelong passion for Ferraris and wrote the definitive book “The Spyder California, A Ferrari of Particular Distinction”.
George was a loyal, true friend to many and had great memories of all the fun and escapades along the way. He is survived by his sister, Ellen Green of Thornhill, his nieces, Jackie, Jennie and Janet and their families. He will be forever in the hearts of his wife, Donna and his sons, James Bradley Carrick “Brad” of San Francisco and Robert Scott Carrick “Scott” of Arroyo Grande, California.
Friends and family will be welcomed at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 375 Mount Pleasant Rd, in Toronto at 1pm on April 28th, with a celebration of George’s life following.
