Diane Paulley

Diane Mary Paulley (July 31, 1940 – July 2, 2022) was the wife of Thomas M. Bate.

She later remarried to a John Ross, giving her the name Diana Ross (!). It seems that John Ross, Tom Bate, and Diane Paulley may have known each other since childhood, according to someone who posted on her obituary (William Dubas).

Obituary

Our cherished Mom, wife, and sister, Diane, passed at Ottawa General Hospital after a very short illness on July 2, 2022. Formerly of Transcona, MB and Victoria, BC, Diane lived in Iroquois, ON. She will be sadly missed by her husband John Ross, her children: David (Sue) Bate and grandchildren, Ryan (Kayla) and Jordan; Tim (Caroline) Bate and grandchildren, Vanessa (Michael) and Mason; Jennifer (Dean) Sykes and grandchildren, Jessica (Malcolm), Bailey, and Nicole (Brett), great-grandson Oliver; Andrew (Kelly) Bate and grandsons, Kaden (Cleo) and Daniel; and her sister Lynda Paulley.

Passed away peacefully at the Ottawa General Hospital on Saturday, July 2, 2022, Diane Ross (nee Paulley) of Iroquois, in her 82nd year. Loving wife of John Ross. Loving mother of David Bate (Sue) of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Tim Bate (Caroline) of Victoria, B.C., Jennifer Sykes (Dean) of Brandon, Manitoba and Andrew Bate (Kelly Foley) of Gibson, B.C. Affectionate stepmother of David Ross. Diane will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Ryan, Jordan, Jessica (Malcolm), Nicole (Brett), Bailey, Kaden, Daniel and her great-grandson Oliver. She was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Mary Paulley (nee Sinclair). .

From stories from the Old Central School, the tiny community of Transcona, We all knew one another. I go back to John's mother, grandfather, brother, sister, I go back to Diane's mother. her Father and sister. How we all spent our early years in the one school, our friends knew one another. Tom was my friend. May our history be of memories, as we grew, and Transcona is where it all began. John, may your memories keep your heart warm with Love and happiness.
